We

Estudio Teorema is an independent space dedicated to the production, research, and promotion of the performing arts. It is based in the Colonia del Fresno neighborhood of Guadalajara, Mexico.

Since 2016, we have focused primarily on co-producing residency and educational projects in collaboration with artists, collectives, and institutions that seek to explore their creative processes through the body, the stage, the spoken word, and critical experimentation.

We are interested in research-creation as a situated practice: a way of thinking and doing that emerges from the pressing needs of the context, the intersection of disciplines, and the questions that permeate our space. We support projects that do not seek immediate answers, but rather allow for transition, pause, trial, and error as fundamental parts of the artistic process.

We believe in residency programs as spaces for sensitive thinking, horizontal exchange, and the collective construction of knowledge. We view artistic production as a tool for sparking conversations and proposing new ways of inhabiting the world.

Estudio Teorema is also defined by its relationship with its surroundings. Located in a working-class neighborhood of Guadalajara, the space coexists with, engages in dialogue with, and draws inspiration from the stories and dynamics of the local community. We develop community outreach projects with local organizations, neighbors, children, and artists who work from social, feminist, queer, and territorial perspectives. This connection to the outside world is an essential part of our practice.

We are committed to forms of cultural production that are sustainable, critical, and dedicated to the diversity of bodies, languages, and ways of life.
